The Cyberspace Administration of China fined China’s three internet giants – Tencent, Baidu and Alibaba – for hosting fake news, pornography and other banned content.

Tencent said it “sincerely accepted” the punishment and would improve its management of WeChat according government guidelines.

Baidu apologised to users and promised to fix any problems. Weibo did not comment.
