Children of stolen generation risk mental illness

A new survey reveals Indigenous kids living with parents or carers from the stolen generation are more likely to have emotional and behavioural difficulties. The findings were released by the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research, which interviewed over five thousand Aboriginal children aged four to seventeen. Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Helen Milroy, says the Telethon survey is evidence that kids whose carers who were forcibly removed from their own families are at a higher risk of mental illness.
