We live in an era when women can choose whether or not to have children, and when motherhood is often delayed until its too late. Author and journalist Gillian Guthrie only realised she wanted to be a mother at 45 when she met the man of her dreams.

Her grief at remaining childless has led her to explore the topic and  talk to other childless women. Her book  “Childless:Reflections of Life’s Longing for Itself”  is both a meditation on her own deep sadness and a discussion of what is a very modern issue.
