Throughout history women have played a huge role in the trade industry, particularly in times of war.

Now there are only around five and a half thousand women working in trades across the country.

SALT or Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen is a not-for-profit group advocating for women working in the industry.

They are launching their inaugural conference today and are bringing together tradeswomen, apprentices and policy makers from around Australia.

As well as this, they have a focus on celebrating tradeswomen of the past.
