The Sydney fair was held last weekend, with this year’s theme celebrating 100 years of art deco.

The art deco movement originated in the early 1900’s but debuted in Paris in 1925 and took the world by storm influencing every aspect of the period including fashion, architecture, household items and accessories. The style spanned the entire interwar period and the opulence associated with art deco dies at the beginning of the second world war in 1939. The art deco style is broad enough to be indefinable yet distinct and recognisable with its straight edge properties and machine age influence.

Here to talk about the origins and influences of Art deco style is designer, author and TV presenter Claudia Chan Shaw and Fashion Freelancer Eleanor Keene.
