Carr Government accused of damaging Indigenous sites

Sandon Point, on the NSW south coast, is again in the news amid allegations that the NSW government is damaging Aboriginal artifacts and sacred sites by allowing development to continue in the area. Sandon Point has been contentious since 2000, when an Aboriginal Tent Embassy was set up to stop the Stockland Company, one of Australia’s largest development firms, building houses on the site. After numerous legal challenges, the Tent Embassy has begun a new action against the Carr government over its powers under the National Parks and Wildlife Act. Charles Gregory reports.
