The Yamatji Land and Sea Council in Western Australia launched their ‘Caring for Country’ project today. The plan ensures Indigenous community participation in natural resource management and planning and has gained attention from the Federal Department of Environment and Heritage and state authorities. It looks at the Yamatiji’s aspirations, needs and priorities for the diverse land and sea environments and cultural heritage of the region. The Wire team spoke to Clayton Lewis, a Caring for Country officer.
