As the new Senators arrive in Canberra, the issue of carbon farming is top of the agenda. Carbon farming allows farmers to sell storage space for carbon, by planting trees, managing grazing or reducing bare earth. In light of plans to repeal the carbon tax, a Senate Committee is looking to expand the carbon credits scheme, to make it more accessible. But there are critics who believe that carbon farming does not work and should be abandoned.
