The west Kimberley is under consideration for National Heritage listing but the deadline to make a decision has been extended again. The extension comes after the Australian Heritage Council received more information and decided to change the recommended boundary. Environmental groups and the travel industry are calling for National Heritage listing to protect the Kimberley’s cultural and natural values from inappropriate development.
