Rights of children in detention ‘increasingly violated’

A report from Human Rights Watch has criticised the Australian criminal justice system for its treatment of children held in detention.

Australia Researcher at Human Rights Watch Annabel Hennessy raises concerns over Australia’s age of criminal responsibility, which remains well below the United Nations’ standards.

The report also found children are subjected to harsh conditions, calling for national plan to safeguard the rights of youth in detention.
