Research into dementia at Macquarie University has had some other beneficial applications.  The discovery that gene therapy that can stop the progression of dementia also appears to be of benefit in the treatment of severe epilepsy in children in that it can stop seizures.  This is in cases where other therapies are not effective.  It would appear other forms of epilepsy would also benefit from this new therapy.

There has been a new company formed, Celosia Therapeutics to take the next steps that will allow commercialisation of the therapy to bring relief to those with Dementia and Epilepsy.

It is envisaged the therapy would take the form of a simple injection.
