Brazil removes protections from vast Amazon reserve

The Renca reserve lies to the north west of the mouths of the Amazon river.

The federal government of Brazil has abolished a rainforest reserve the size of Denmark prompting an outcry from environmentalists around the world.

The government of Michel Temer justified the policy on the need to boost economic development in the country.
