The Red Cross is today urgently calling for blood donors. It seems we’re not being generous with blood donation – or in fact with any form of personal physical donation to the medical world. While only one in thirty Australians donate blood, one in three will require extra blood in their lifetime, and those on the queue for blood at the moment should feel nervous. Australia has only two days worth of blood supplies in reserve, against a usual six.
