A new study of Australian Beach Safety Signage has shed light on the shortcomings of current beach safety messaging.

A collaboration between the University of Adelaide and the UNSW Beach safety research group, the study found approximately half of both the domestic and international student groups surveyed misunderstood common beach safety signage.

By identifying these misunderstandings, the study aims to prevent accidental beach drownings, especially among young and linguistically diverse people.
