In the 1950’s Bill Simon was a happy little boy living near Kempsey in New South Wales. Then one day his life changed forever. He and his brothers were taken from their parents according to Aboriginal policies of those days – and from that moment Bill became a renegade. He was in and out of trouble, and later as an adult became addicted drugs, smoking and gambling. He’s now a pastor at Sydney’s Redfern where he helps others whose lives have gone off the rails – and he’s written a book, “Back on the Block”, about his action-filled life. He told Annie Hastwell about that pivotal day when he was taken from his mother.
