AWB shareholders head to the courts for justice

Australia’s premier wheat exporter AWB limited was served with a multimillion dollar class action suit today. John and Kaye Watson, retired wheat farmers and former shareholders in the company, are claiming they suffered major losses last year when the company’s dealings in Iraq came out in the early days of the Cole enquiry. Eleanor Bell was at the Federal Court House earlier today, where John Watson, told her what he hopes to gain from the action. Ben Slade, claimants solicitor, NSW Prinicipal with Maurice Blackburn Cashman also dicsussed his client’s chances of success, along with John Curry, Deputy Chairman Australian Shareholdes Association and Professor Ian Ramsey, Director of the Centre for corporate law at the University of Melbourne.
