Queensland’s Galilee basin is could soon be home to one of the world’s largest mines with the Federal Government approving the Carmichael Coal and Rail Project. Environment Minister Greg Hunt has given the go ahead to Indian mining company Adani, but there are concerns over their past environmental practices. With the project impacting the basin, the area proposed for the railway and the Great Barrier Reef, environmentalists feel the damages won’t be well managed.
