One of the longest running conflicts in Asia is the one between the Sri Lankan government and the Tamil separatist movement led by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam – the Tamil Tigers. As Government forces battle their way into Tamil held land it has been reported that over one thousand people died yesterday alone and as many as sixty thousand civilians have been forced to flee. In Sydney members of the Australian Tamil community have been trying to raise awareness of the situation.
