Doubts have arisen over the role of Australian special forces in Afghanistan, after reports today that senior Australian officers are among those manning the controls of US-owned drones.

The powerful missiles are part of the Coalition forces’ “capture or kill” approach to take out Taliban leaders. But some analysts are concerned these tactics are informed by flawed intelligence and are causing more harm than good in the long term.
