Australian press blasted for “herd mentality” by the Press Council

The chair of the Australian Press Council Ken McKinnon blasted the quality of the Australian press in the council’s annual report, saying independent-minded, skeptical journalists who do not hunt with the pack are as rare as hen’s teeth. Mr McKinnon critized the lack of variationand over-reporting of spin in the print media – he says that newspapers will need to do more to fight off falling circulations.
