The Pacific Islands are no place to be a woman. Our close northern neighbours play host to some of the highest levels of discrimination and violence against women in the world. Australia is doing its part to help out. Prime Minister Julia Gillard yesterday announced a three hundred and twenty million dollar initiative to improve life for women in the Pacific.

CARE Australia’s Dr Julia Newton-Howes says the money will go towards helping women play a stronger economic and political role in their countries.
