AUSMIN: Hillary Clinton to meet Julia Gillard on U.S. military presence

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is meeting Australian leaders to discus defence and strategic issues in Perth tomorrow. Prime Minister Julia Gillard accompanied by Australia’s Foreign Minister Bob Carr and Defence Minister Stephen Smith are to join Secretary Clinton and Defence Secretary Leon Panetta for annual AUSMIN consultation. Greens MP Scott Ludlam says U.S. force rebalance towards the Pacific might increase growing tension in the region. But some defence experts argue it is beneficial for Australia’s defence capabilities.
