After suppressing political freedom for decades in Burma, the military is continuing to phase in democracy this weekend with by-elections to be held on Sunday.
Burma expert Dr Nicholas Farrelly from ANU expects Aung San Suu Kyi and her National League for Democracy to do well in the upcoming elections. However the Burmese people are hopeful yet anxious about the future of the country.
