The Northern Territory’s peak indigenous justice body says the Government has to accept some of the blame for the rise in violent crime rates in Katherine. Quarterly crime figures show a 76 per cent increase in assaults in Katherine over the last year with a large percentage of the assailants and victims being indigenous. Territory Aboriginal Justice Advocacy Committee Chief Chris Howse says Indigenous people aren’t solely to blame.
