On Friday, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated in a letter to the House of Representatives and Senate crossbenchers their staff would be cut down to a quarter of that they already had.

Outrage sparked from small parties and newly elected independents, accusing Albanese of “political play” and saying these cuts are a “attack on democracy”.
