A furore has erupted on the airwaves in Brisbane, after Lions star Jason Ackermanis made an off-the-cuff remark in his “Aka and Macca show” on the local Indigenous radio station, 98.9 FM. Ackermanis told listeners that if they wanted the show to go back to being an hour and a half long, they should “ring the bunch of monkey upstairs” about it. He later posted a public apology on his website, saying he did not mean to be discriminatory, he regretted his comments and apologised for causing any offence. There were calls for legal action, but when the board of 98.9 FM met this afternoon they decided to simply dump the show for good.
