Systemic paternalism in Queensland in the 50’s right up to the 1970’s in Far North Queensland is the best light you can put on the unconscionable practice of the Qld Government Indigenous trustee, who collected Aboriginal stockmen’s wages for safekeeping, but never actually gave it back.

Now, a settlement with Aboriginal workers and descendants of those who have passed away, means a $190 million payment from the Queensland Government will go out to claimants.
