The Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act was originally introduced to protect cultural sites on Aboriginal land but a new round of community consultations is taking place to discuss amendments to the Act. Aboriginal elders are claiming to have been shut out of these consultations, which are designed to erode the control traditional owners have over their lands.

A rally held in Sydney this week to launch ‘Culture Rides’ is start of a national campaign against these new consultations, designed to put pressure on governments and raise awareness in the wider community.
