Two days out from the WA State Elections, candidates from across the political spectrum are making a last-ditch effort to win voters. One small Aboriginal community, however, isn’t buying the pre-election promises. Eligible voters in the Ngalingkadji community all refused to vote last Saturday when the mobile polling boooths arrived. The tiny Aboriginal community lies in WA’s Kimberley region near Fitzroy Crossing. Residents say they’re boycotting the election because their pleas for funding for housing and maintenance have been ignored by both major parties for the past decade.
