After 82 days on hunger strike a refugee man from Iraq fears he is close to death. He says he has been abused by staff and that he has not received adequate medical attention. Meanwhile the government has attempted to stave off a high court challenge by passing a bill that reinforces the legality of the offshore detention system. The case is being launched by Melbourne’s Human Rights Law Centre on behalf of ten asylum seekers being held in offshore detention.
