A Happening Hip Hop Hep C CD
Hepatitis C is a disease which affects many Australians, but is an issue that is frequently swept under the carpet. Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia wants to drive the message home using hip hop music as its vehicle. Yesterday it released a compilation CD with a difference. Gary Goldsmith, Michael Wenitong and Steve Allen travelled to eight South Australian regions and gave Hepatitis workshops to address issues of education, drugs, discrimination and lifestyle choices. Children and musicians mixed their creative talent and the result is a unique album. The three men spoke to Alex Parry about the impact of the project on young people’s lives.
