Overnight Washington was the seen of wide spread civil disobedience, with a record 370 number of people being arrested in protests against the Iraq war that took place outside the White House. The arrests, which happened mid-afternoon Washington time, followed the arrest of 40 people in the morning outside the Pentagon and follow a weekend of rallying that saw thousands converge on Washington against the war. The protests come as recent polls show now 60 percent of Americans are opposed to the Iraq war. But does civil disobedience work to win over the hearts and minds of Americans that currently support the war This report on the protest by Erica Vowles begins with comments from Alison Yorra. She’s one of the DC coordinators of anti- war group Code Pink Women for Peace. She explained the aims of DC protest.
