2012 Closing the Gap report released by government

The annual ‘Closing the Gap’ report was released by the Australian Government today and the contents were not entirely positive.

Closing the gap is a team effort between Indigenous communities and governments to reduce the inequalities between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.Prime Minister Julia Gillard told parliament that only two of the six original targets look achievable by their deadlines. While two targets is a positive step, one of the most crucial targets- equal life expectancy- remains out of reach.
