A group of MPs have called to exempt medicinal cannabis users from the offence of driving with the mere presence of the drug in their system.

Last year the NSW government’s drug summit recommended a legislated medical defense for drivers using medically prescribed cannabis, which has not since been legislated.

This recommendation was further urged by Independent MP Alex Green in parliament on Tuesday who takes medicinal cannabis for insomnia and anxiety.
