Legislation was passed in June to extend Howard-era policies concerning Indigenous people in the Northern Territory. The government called it the ‘Stronger Futures’ legislation. It continues welfare quarantining and alcohol management in Indigenous communities for another 10 years.
But a book launched on Monday claims to offer a counter narrative to the Government’s version of events. Entitled ‘A Decision to Discriminate’, the book documents evidence of strong resistance to the policy among aboriginal communities. Tawar Razaghi reports.
