They might be one of Australia's most recognisable natives but many of Queensland's Koala populations are suffering. On October 12 they were given an extra funding boost, with the Queensland Newman government announcing eight hundred thousand dollars over the next four years for rescue and rehabilitation programs. This latest announcement comes after the government pledged 22.5 million over three years for koala habitat conservation programs and 3.2 million over four years for research into Koala deaths earlier this year.
