The pressure around the Australian live animal export rises after nation-wide protesting rallies happened over the weekend. The issue has come to a head again after 20,000 Australian sheep were rejected by several middle eastern countries due to disease. Several thousand have now been put down and there are allegations of mistreatment.
Several Labor MP’s are also pressuring the Prime Minister to end the trade which is worth one billion dollars. Opponents say that animal slaughter should be done in Australia and the frozen meat exported.
