Sovereignty movement calls for Australia to be denied UNSC seat
Tuesday, 2 October 2012

Produced by Tawar Razaghi

Story audio

Australia’s Indigenous sovereignty movement, First Nations, has called upon the United Nations to deny Australia’s Security Council seat bid. The movement argues Australia is founded upon a colonial state that is in breach of the Human Rights Conventions in its treatment of Indigenous Australians. I spoke to Michael Anderson, Chair of the sovereignty movement about their letter sent to UN ambassadors in New York.
