Autism diagnosis is set to change as modifications for the manual of medical disorders are underway.Acording to a study done by Autism Spectrum Australia there will be a 23% reduction in the number of children diagnosed with autism under the new guidelines. Come May 1, this group of children will instead be diagnosed as having ‘Social Communicative Disorder'. There are fears that these children will miss out on Medicare – funded autism treatments.
