PNG and Nauru will be used for offshore processing centres if the recommendations of the Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers are implemented by the government. The expert panel, headed by former defence chief Angus Houston, today delivered its recommendations calling on the government to implement urgent and decisive action in relation to the asylum seeker stalemate. But human rights advocates say that several of the recommendations from the Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers violate Australia’s international law obligations.
