Julia Gillard has urged state governments to find solutions to rising power prices by the end of the year, in a speech to the Energy Policy Institute of Australia.
The Prime Minister has laid most of the blame for rising energy prices on state management of the power sector. She is calling for an overhaul of the electricity supply market, which she says is driving a 50 percent hike in power prices in states where infrastructure is state-owned. But experts say the Prime Minister is playing politics by blaming the states and that people all over Australia are feeling the pinch of surging power costs. (Image by Ian Britton at FreeFoto.com)
