The Assad regime suffered a major body blow Wednesday night (AEST) as a bomb blast killed three high profile members in Damascus. The Syrian civil war is far from over, but this signifies a major tipping point in the conflict that has raged across the nation for over a year.
Doctor John Bruni has been following the conflict since it began in March 2011. he believes that if the balance has truly tipped, the Aloite population of Syria is sure to be persecuted should they lose power. It is because of this that the bombings in Damascus are so pivotal; Assad's supporters are now in a corner, their only two options appear to be fight or flight.
