State governments are under growing pressure to help fund an historic pay rise for community sector workers after the federal government pledged an extra $1 billion yesterday. A Fair Work Australia ruling earlier this year granted pay rises of up to 45 percent to the mostly female community sector workforce. The Australian Services Union says the state governments, such as New South Wales and Western Australia, need to put the money on the table or see services in the sector close shop.
