The NSW State Government has drafted a new set of guidelines to ensure koala’s habitats are better managed, following a relentless cycle of droughts and bushfires which have decimated koala numbers.

This guideline will restrict how landholders and timber harvesters can use their land through designated eco-zones and koala habitat maps. People are only becoming aware of this new policy but their ability to engage with it is limited as the period of public feedback has closed.
