Program Producers

Shevonne Hunt
2SER

Shevonne has a bachelor of media from Macquarie University, where she also studied politics. After losing her way for several years in the world of advertising she came back to media, completing a post graduate certificate in journalism in 2006.

In the same year Shevonne started as a volunteer at 2ser, working on their weekly current affairs show Razors Edge as a presenter, reporter and producer.

While working on Razors Edge Shevonne hosted Tuesday breakfast before reluctantly handing over the show to concentrate on The Wire.

She has also had several stories broadcast on JJJ's youth current affairs show, HACK.

"The Wire is an exciting opportunity to produce truly independent current affairs," she says, "I think we really need that in Australia".

Annie Hastwell
Radio Adelaide

Annie began her career as a film reviewer for the ABC in Darwin while studying for her journalism degree and went on to work there for almost a decade as a producer and presenter. Since moving to Adelaide nine years ago she has balanced a “portfolio career”, managing current affairs at Radio Adelaide, producing features for Radio National and teaching journalism at UniSA, as well as a spot of magazine writing, and most recently working as consultant journalist for the National Science Media Centre.
She enjoys the independence of the Wire, the opportunity it gives young journalists to have a go at doing their own stories and the challenge of broadcasting to a very eclectic audience.

Catherine Zengerer
Radio Adelaide

Catherine has had a much varied career. She was a nurse for ten years between travelling around Europe, doing part time study and raising her daughter. After working in almost every area of nursing, she moved on to pursue a career as a public servant for the federal government, working at the Child Support Agency. While she was there, Catherine got involved more actively in the union movement, first becoming a workplace delegate, then eventually working for the Community and Public Sector Union as an Organiser. In 2006, Catherine took up an offer to get involved in producing and presenting a union radio show on Radio Adelaide - "Your Rights at Night." She was bitten by the radio bug and went on to become the Programme Co-ordinator for the show in 2007. In 2007 Catherine was also involved in organising the "Rock The Vote" Adelaide concert and was a co-curator of the "LifeWorkArt" Exhibition held in Adelaide in October 2007.
Catherine joined the Adelaide team for The Wire in 2008

Heather Anderson
4EB

Heather has been working at community radio 4ZzZ since 1991 and during this time has done just about everything from policy development to cleaning the toilet! Her passion has, however, always been alternative news and current affairs and when she's not producing Friday's edition of The Wire she's either writing her neverending PhD or helping out on 4ZzZ's prisoners' show Locked In.

Contributors

Heike Herrling
4EB

Since finishing her Journalism degree at QUT, Heike is soldiering on with university life to complete a Laws degree. However, her passion is journalism and its ability to perpetuate positive change. Heike’s interests include law, politics, media ethics, and history. Her pet hate is journalists who get the information wrong. When Heike is not studying, or working part time, she is indulging her media addiction at The Wire. When a spare minute presents itself, she is dreaming of her next travel adventure - to South America.

Dilenjit Singh
2SER

Dilenjit Singh has a journalism degree from UTS and is the midst of the Honours program because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Originally attracted to 2SER by the pretty stickers, he’s grown to enjoy the wonderful world of radio journalism. Starting out on weekly news and current affairs program Razors Edge, he moved on to The Wire and has picked up lots of cool stickers of his own along the way. When not on The Wire he spends his time at school, sleeping (the two are not always mutually exclusive), working as a dishwasher and missing packets of ice cool Milo from back home in Singapore.

Eleanor Bell
2SER

A final year journalism at UTS, Eleanor is has been a weekly contributor to The Wire since July 2006. Eleanor is also a producer for 2ser’s Think MQ and is the presenter of The Wire on Tuesdays with the Sydney team.
As a freelance journalist, Eleanor has worked for the CBAA, US broadcaster Marketplace and 2ser’s own Jailbreak. She dabbles in copywriting for a delightful little design company one day a week and is passionate about independent news and current affairs, loves being a reporter in the field and will talk to anybody.

Anisha Khopkar
2SER

Anisha has been volunteering as a reporter for The Wire since November 2006. She just recently finished her Journalism degree at UTS and is now on the daunting hunt for a paid job as a journalist.
In her time at university, Anisha has also worked on the online investigative news site Reportage as a sub-editor, and on the local news mag Precinct as an Arts and Culture editor.
She has a passion for reporting independent news and current affairs, and has totally fallen in love with radio since she joined the Sydney Wire crew.

Susannah Palk
2SER

Before commencing her Masters in Journalism at UTS last year, Susannah gained a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of New South Wales in 2002. In between the drudgery of study, Susannah spent a few years living in Malta and then London, practicing her journalistic skill of falling off bar stools. Before becoming a member of The Wire team, Susannah was a contributor to 2ser's weekly current affairs show, Razor's Edge. As well as contributing to 2ser, Susannah writes for the community newspaper The South Sydney Herald.
