Israel has today announced they will freeze settlement construction in the West Bank. While Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says this proves Israel is serious about peace, the freeze does not include East Jerusalem or housing that has already been approved. Last year’s National Apology to the Stolen Generations was seen at the time as a major step forward for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. But many now think it was nothing more than a symbolic gesture and has done little to improve the lives of Indigenous Australians. One year on from the Apology, the Government has introduced a Healing Foundation. For the past three years a group of young performers have been visiting South Australia's remote Anangu Pintjatjantjara Yankunytjatjara Lands teaching fimmaking, music and performance to young people who otherwise didn't have a lot to do. The program run by Adelaide's Carclew Youth Arts has had remarkable success with young petrol sniffers and substance abusers, with an 80% drop in drug abuse. Almost all the participants in the project have also gone on to finish school and start careers.

More and more people each day are realising that the energy used to produce food and the transport needed to get it to your door makes food a huge environmental issue.
