The national account figures which came out today show that in fact that Australia is not technically in recession. Our gross domestic product grew by 0.4% in the March quarter, led by strong exports and household spending. They are the figures the government has been waiting for, but not everyone is as happy about them as Kevin Rudd. A traditional smoking ceremony by the Wurundjeri people of Victoria will open the 10th Annual Native Title Conference in Melbourne tonight. The conference theme is Spirit of Country - Land Water Life ….and land rights, sea rights and even river rights will be on the agenda. Along with lawyers and traditional owners the conference will host mining companies and other business interests. Convenor Dr Lisa Strelein says its a chance to get everyone together and lay all issues on the table.

The Revolutionary Association for the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA) is a group dedicated to help women suffering harsh gender inequality in the Middle East. The political group was formed in 1977.
