Last year’s Mulligan Enquiry exposed some horrendous examples of the sexual abuse of children, including many Aboriginal kids. For years, communities in outback South Australia have been struggling to find a way of supporting their victims, due to the lack of legal services. But thanks to new funding from the Commonwealth Government, the Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement has just re-opened its doors as an outlet for people to seek vital legal services, with a special focus on child protection. Human rights advocates have been outraged this week over Iran's plans to execute two juvenile offenders. While most countries have a ban on the death penalty for people under 18, Iran's penal code allows children as young as nine to be put to death if they are convicted of serious crimes. The International head of Amnesty, Irene Khan, this week personally protested outside the Iranian embassy in London, in a last ditch effort to save the two teenagers. Public Outcry has forced Channel Nine to Sack the disgraced Matthew Johns following the Four Corners report on group sex in the NRL. Today, Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young called on the Government to facilitate a national conversation with various sporting codes around the country, addressing the urgent need for cultural change within the sporting community.

Indigenous Body Education Resource Animations has launched an interactive tool which shows images of what’s going on inside our bodies. UGFM Radio in Alexandra was at the heart of the action during the fires and lost their transmitter…now the government, community members and other community stations are pulling together to get new station back up and running.
