Greens Senator Bob Brown will put forward a private members bill to reactivate the world’s first euthanasia law when Federal parliament resumes this week. The law was passed in the Northern Territory 11 years ago, but was quickly overturned by the Howard government. Senator Brown says the Howard government should not have interfered in the territory’s affairs and hopes the new Rudd government agrees. In an Australian first, a brain bank dedicated to the world wide effort to find a cure for multiple sclerosis (MS) has just been opened in Sydney. The NSW Minister for Science and Medical Research, Verity Firth, officially opened the brain bank, which will collect and store brain tissue for use by scientists around the world.
